Derek Galperin is an Emerging Media and Technology (EMAT) student at Kent State University. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science with minors in Photography and Computer Information Systems.
Derek currently works as a student photographer for Kent State University’s Division of Communications and Marketing. Combining his technical skills and knowledge from EMAT with his background in traditional media, he has brought a unique lens to capturing campus life. So far his photographs from major university events like convocation, commencement and Mid-American Conference Championships have been featured on Kent State’s website and social media platforms.
Derek is also the head photographer for GET Media Productions. He oversees end-to-end productions for all photography-related projects, including photographing, editing, and delivery of photos.
Specializing in sports and automotive photography, Derek works with a wide variety of subjects. He works with industry-standard tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite, in order to create the highest quality photos possible. His technical background is also in development, with a growing proficiency in JavaScript and other facets of creative-based coding, which builds upon his artistic eye. His passion for technology and traditional media allows for his unique perspective to thrive.
